Students in the first semester will participate in various dramatic exercises. The student will participate in activities which demonstrate cooperation using various dramatic structures: group improvisation, ensemble acting, and duet exercises. The students will establish characterization by projecting the student’s own personal experiences into a monologue and with a partner in a duet. Stage movement, stage directions, acting terminology, and blocking techniques will also be studied to aid the student in developing skills for appreciation and evaluation of drama and theatre. The students will also fulfill various responsibilities in the production of a play. Elective Course.
Students during the second semester will prepare dramatic presentations and study the art of theatre. A period of time will be devoted to dramatic presentations of contest speaking and presentation. Students will present different events during forensic contests: oral interpretation of prose and poetry, humorous and serious solo acting, informative speaking, oration, duet acting, improvised duet acting and extemporaneous speaking.
